Friday's Weekly Rap Up is something that I like to feature at the end of weeks, featuring some sort of rap song, along with how it coincides with the Christian life. This week we have the song "Lazarus" from Trip Lee, featuring This'l.



Last weekend we took part in an evangelism training course at Sojourn Heights, our local church, led by Jeremiah Morris. The training was a speed-through of the gospel of John, and highlighted chapter 11, which features the account of Lazarus.

Friday's Weekly Rap-Up - February 1, 2013

Each Friday I will feature a rap song for everyone's enjoyment.  Typically, this will be Christian rap, or something of cultural relevance. I've been doing it for a few months, as it started as something to post to Facebook and Twitter, but I'll throw it on here as well.

This week, I give you the newly released "Fakin", by Lecrae, featuring This'l. It's a solidly produced video from the Reach Records folks. There is some satire displayed here, addressing the images portrayed by rappers who show themselves as killers, drug dealers and millionaires. Undoubtedly, some rappers do exhibit those traits, but ultimately, it attacks the images that then transcend to us, the listeners of music. I get a sense there is also an underlying call for us as Christians to continue to portray ourselves authentically, making sure that we are light into an otherwise dark world, as highlighted in 1 John 1.
